Job Overview The Entry-Level Graphic Designer position is responsible for the rolling out of new products. This position requires the ability to think creatively to expand new product lines while always keeping within the branding concept of Big Dot of Happiness. This role actively collaborates with all members of the Creative Team. Duties • Entry-Level Product Development – Assist the advanced graphics team to help develop new product lines, improve and enhance product lines, and maintain and update print files. Must be able to take a product from concept to production, keeping in mind detail and process. • Originality: Must have the ability to come up with unique and reputed company new product ideas. As a brand manufacturer, everything we produce must be original to Big Dot and not copied from any other sources. Must have a creative way of expanding new product lines, sharing new ideas, and problem solving. Since customer tastes can change quickly, designer needs to be able to quickly react to trends - make changes quickly to customer’s needs, practice creative problem-solving skills, pay attention to details, and have the ability to work independently and under pressure. Must have self-discipline to “start” projects, budget one’s time, and ultimately meet deadlines. • Vision and Visualization: Must be able to “see” the end result. Must have the ability to visualize how something will look after it is complete, keeping in mind the customer’s needs, how it will view on web, and how to best produce. Many times, we require several changes or more than one visual concept for a project. It’s critical in all design components that the graphic designer understands the customer we are serving to keep the target audience in mind during all conceptual elements of design. The ultimate goal is to sell the product or service to a potential customer. • Communication Skills: Must have excellent communication skills in writing and visually. Must be able to work and communicate effectively with the entire Creative Team and be able to take direction and openly accept constructive criticism. • Creative Writing (Not required, but would be a plus): Many times, creative copy/content is necessary in product designs and expansions. Good grammar skills and creative writing are a plus.
