<div><strong>Heart & Vascular Service Line Manager</strong><br/><br/><strong>Advanced Practice Provider</strong><br/><br/><strong>Rush Heart & Vascular</strong><br/><br/><strong>Chicago, IL</strong><br/><br/><strong>Rush Heart & Vascular</strong>, part of the Rush University System for Health, invites applications for the position of <strong>Heart & Vascular Service Line Manager, Advanced Practice Provider.</strong><br/><br/>Job Summary:<br/><br/>The Manager, Advanced Practice Providers (APP) - Heart & Vascular Service Line is a licensed Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) responsible for the leadership, operational oversight, and management of APPs across the Rush Heart & Vascular service line. This role supports comprehensive cardiovascular care across inpatient, outpatient, procedural, consultative, and specialty cardiac programs.<br/><br/>The APP Manager partners closely with physician, nursing, and operational leadership to advance strategic priorities, optimize APP practice models, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered cardiovascular care. Responsibilities include:<br/>• APP workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and retention<br/>• Performance management and professional development<br/>• Oversight of staffing, scheduling, and clinical deployment<br/>• Advancement of quality, operational, and patient care initiatives<br/>• Development and optimization of APP practice models across Heart & Vascular Services<br/><br/>This role also maintains a clinical practice component to support ongoing competency and engagement in cardiovascular patient care. The position includes a minimum of 0.4 FTE protected administrative time, dependent upon the number of direct reports and additional leadership responsibilities.<br/><br/><strong>Job Responsibilities:</strong><br/>• Provides direct oversight, coordination, and management of APPs across the Heart & Vascular service line, including inpatient, ambulatory, procedural, imaging, consultative, and subspecialty cardiovascular programs.<br/>• Partners with Heart & Vascular physician, nursing, and operational leadership to establish and execute strategic clinical and operational priorities.<br/>• Collaborates with cardiovascular leadership teams to ensure seamless integration of APP practice across all cardiac and vascular care settings.<br/>• Supports expansion and optimization of APP practice models to improve patient access, throughput, continuity of care, and operational efficiency within the Heart & Vascular service line.<br/><br/>Administrative & Operational Oversight<br/>• Serves as direct manager for APPs and Lead APPs within the Heart & Vascular service line.<br/>• Oversees APP recruitment, onboarding, credentialing, privileging, orientation, and retention initiatives.<br/>• Directs staffing, scheduling, workforce planning, and clinical deployment across cardiovascular programs and care sites.<br/>• Manages APP performance evaluations (annual and ongoing OPPE/FPPE), competencies, and professional development planning.<br/>• Develops, maintains, and enforces APP policies, procedures, workflows, and best practices specific to cardiovascular care delivery.<br/>• Resolves escalated staffing, performance, and employee relations concerns.<br/>• Participates in budget development, resource allocation, productivity management, and fiscal oversight for APP operations within the service line.<br/>• Attends and contributes to Heart & Vascular leadership, faculty, and operational meetings. Ensures regular communication forums for APPs across the cardiovascular service line.<br/>• Develops and monitors service line goals, productivity standards, patient access metrics, and quality outcomes.<br/><br/><strong>Clinical Practice</strong><br/>• Maintains active clinical practice within the Heart & Vascular service line to support clinical competency and model evidence-based cardiovascular care.<br/>• Completes and documents accurate histories and physical examinations for cardiovascular patients.<br/>• Conducts comprehensive and episodic cardiovascular assessments and develops patient care plans.<br/>• Orders, interprets, and manages diagnostic testing, therapies, and treatment plans within scope of practice.<br/>• Prescribes medications, including controlled substances, as delegated and appropriate within scope of practice.<br/>• Participates in inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular consultations and care coordination.<br/>• Provides accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.<br/>• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care transitions and specialty referrals.<br/><br/><strong>Leadership & Strategy</strong><br/>• Serves as a liaison between APPs, physicians, nursing, care management, and administrative leadership within the Heart & Vascular service line.<br/>• Develops and sustains an environment that promotes excellence in APP practice, cardiovascular care delivery, and interdisciplinary collaboration.<br/>• Facilitates APP engagement, mentorship, satisfaction, and retention initiatives.<br/>• Participates in strategic planning efforts to align APP workforce contributions with Heart & Vascular and organizational goals.<br/>• Evaluates and evolves APP staffing and care delivery models to optimize patient outcomes, provider efficiency, and operational performance.<br/>• Supports leadership development and succession planning among APP team members.<br/>• Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of APP workforce models and implements operational improvements as needed.<br/><br/><strong>Education:</strong><br/>• Develops, oversees, and promotes continued learning and professional growth among APP staff within the Heart & Vascular service line.<br/>• Coordinates APP student rotations, cardiovascular APP fellowship/residency opportunities, and academic partnerships.<br/>• Encourages continuing education, specialty certification maintenance, and lifelong learning among APPs.<br/>• Promotes participation in cardiovascular research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice initiatives.<br/>• Pursues ongoing professional development to remain current on trends, innovations, and best practices in cardiovascular medicine and APP leadership.<br/><br/><strong>Qualifications:</strong><br/>• Minimum of five years of Advanced Practice Provider experience in Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, or Interventional Radiology required.<br/>• Leadership/management experience is preferred.<br/>• APRN candidates must possess Acute Care Certification.<br/>• This role reports directly to the Director of Advanced Practice Providers and has an indirect reporting relationship to the Heart & Vascular Service Line Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).<br/>• Demonstrated expertise in cardiovascular patient care, APP practice management, and interdisciplinary collaboration strongly preferred.<br/><br/><strong>Position Requirements:</strong><br/><br/><strong>Nurse Practitioner:</strong><br/>• Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process<br/>• Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing practice with clinical specialty appropriate to position<br/>• Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP)<br/>• CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications<br/><br/><strong>Physician Assistant:</strong><br/>• Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process<br/>• Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program<br/>• Current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants<br/>• CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications<br/><br/>The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care.
