About the position

Insource Services, Inc. is seeking an HR Consultant II to serve as the primary Human Resources resource for clients and leadership, acting as a part-time HR Department for several clients across various industries. This role involves working as an embedded member of client organizations and as part of a service delivery team, providing comprehensive HR services and guidance on employment matters. The consultant will focus on reducing client risk and exposure related to employment practices, handling both routine and complex employee relations, guiding on non-standard HR initiatives, performing management duties, and ensuring compliance with labor laws.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary Human Resources resource for clients and leadership, often working as an embedded part of the client's organization.
• Act as the part-time HR Department for several clients in various industries.
• Provide HR services and serve as a resource to client management on all employment matters.
• Be flexible and practical when addressing issues, with an understanding that a primary role is to reduce client risk and exposure to matters related to employment practices.
• Assist with routine and complex employee relations/performance issues.
• Guide on non-standard matters, including diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, reorganization, policy creation, and leadership mentoring.
• Perform routine HR management duties, including benefits oversight, handbook development and updates, and job description creation.
• Enhance and update policies and procedures in accordance with labor laws, best practices, and cultural inclusion.
• Proactively identify instances of noncompliance with labor laws.
• Design and coordinate new employee onboarding and exit meetings.
• Mitigate employment issues, lay-offs/terminations, equity audits, and compliance.
• Offer advice to clients on all HR-related functions.
• Participate in HR Assessments of new clients and work with the team to launch new clients.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• A minimum of 5 years of Human Resources experience with increasing levels of autonomy and proactive engagement with the work.
• Experience working in small to mid-sized companies, from startups to 150 employees.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in engaging with clients in a highly professional and service-oriented manner; serves as an effective ambassador of Insource HR at client sites.
• Demonstrated professional judgment skills and a positive, inclusive, interactive style.
• Experience explaining and presenting HR information and practices to current and prospective clients clearly and with gravitas.
• Conversant in Federal and Massachusetts employment regulations.
• Proactive in problem-solving and accessing additional resources as necessary.

Nice-to-haves

• Higher-level degree preferred.
• Experience in Biotech, Startups, For-profit, and shares/options preferred.
