Chevron is accepting online applications for Insurance Analyst until September 20th at 11.59pm, Central time.

We are seeking an Insurance Analyst or Senior Insurance Analyst to join Chevron's Corporate Insurance group in Chevron’s Treasury Department. This role supports Chevron's global insurance and risk management activities through the design, placement, administration, and analysis of corporate insurance programs. The position partners closely with business units, legal teams, project organizations, brokers, underwriters, and Treasury leadership to implement Chevron’s preferred self-insurance approach, develop insurance solutions, provide risk transfer expertise, and support major projects, commercial transactions, and joint venture activities across Chevron's global operations.

As part of a collaborative team of insurance professionals, the Insurance Analyst/Sr. Insurance Analyst works closely with Corporate Insurance risk managers, business unit personnel, legal teams, and other Treasury functions across the company.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a collaborative and diverse team supporting an international portfolio of assets and organizations across the company.

Key Considerations:

  • Position is located at Chevron's headquarters in Houston, Texas.
  • This position provides an opportunity to develop deep expertise as an insurance subject matter expert supporting Chevron's global operations. The role may be filled at either the Insurance Analyst or Senior Insurance Analyst level based on the candidate's relevant experience, technical insurance knowledge, and demonstrated ability to independently manage complex insurance matters.
  • The position may include direct responsibility for assigned insurance programs and processes while partnering with Corporate Insurance risk managers on broader or strategic insurance and risk management matters.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to company operating locations on short notice. Domestic and international travel of up to 15% may be required.
  • Chevron's Finance organization seeks career-minded professionals with strong technical capabilities and leadership potential. Chevron emphasizes continuous learning and development, enabling employees to build successful and rewarding careers. We believe employees drive their own development, and strong performance is recognized through opportunities for growth and advancement across the corporation.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

Company Insurance Programs

  • Coordinate with business units and corporate staff for the compilation of underwriting information required to support the process of arranging insurance;
  • Respond to external stakeholders (brokers, underwriters) on requests for specific underwriting questions and issues, which commonly involves coordination with various internal operating groups;
  • Evaluate insurance program alternatives and provide analytic support to Treasury management in helping to frame and implement preferred designs;
  • Review draft insurance policy terms and conditions in coordination with brokers; finalize insurance policies and coordinate payment of premiums;
  • Work closely with business units to identify, assess and mitigate key risks by means of appropriate insurance solutions;
  • Coordinate the insurance claim recovery process for those programs arranged by the Insurance Analyst/Sr. Insurance Analyst and potentially for other company programs;
  • Coordinate with business teams to arrange and facilitate broker RFP’s as required.

Contract Analysis

  • Support business units and legal groups for review of exceptions to company’s standard contract insurance language (e.g. oilfield service agreements);
  • Liaise with Chevron commercial representatives in developing preferred language in various foundation agreements, such as JOAs;
  • Communicate with contractors and vendors to explain and defend the company’s position on insurance requirements in Chevron contract models;
  • Review requests made to Chevron from outside parties for evidence of insurance; review contract obligations of Chevron; provide counsel to business and legal groups, and develop self-insurance letters or certificates of insurance, as required.

Joint Venture and other Specialty Insurance Programs

  • Coordinate with business units and joint venture partners for insurance programs required pursuant to contract or other local obligations;
  • Support the company’s major capital projects, for both contract review and construction insurance requirements;
  • Consider the effective use of captives for the required insurance;
  • Arrange and administer other unique insurance programs which may be required in special circumstances;
  • Develop and apply insurance subject matter expertise to advise internal teams on potential risks and coverage requirements for specific assets;
  • Assist in formulating the tender documents and provide guidance in the tender evaluation and selection process;
  • Support commercial teams involved with various transactions, including divestitures or acquisitions.

Professional Development and Stakeholder Management

  • Remain current with insurance marketplace trends and developments to ensure awareness of available coverages, changes in insurance law and major legal decisions;
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with business units, peers and external stakeholders (brokers, underwriters, loss adjusters);
  • Provide guidance to business units on Chevron’s insurance principles and philosophy, and assist with questions relating to Chevron’s insurance approach;
  • Prepare ad-hoc presentations and analyses as requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or related field;
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in corporate insurance, risk management, insurance brokerage, underwriting, or an insurance company environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex insurance issues and effectively communicate recommendations to business stakeholders.
  • Experience reviewing contractual insurance requirements and risk transfer provisions, with a strong understanding of insurance fundamentals, coverage structures, and risk allocation principles sufficient to evaluate contractual exposures and provide practical business recommendations.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including to Chevron operating locations worldwide, when required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional insurance designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM, ARe, CRM) are beneficial but not required.
  • Experience supporting energy, marine, industrial, or large-scale manufacturing operations and related capital projects is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the design, development, placement, and administration of insurance programs utilizing both commercial insurance markets and captive insurance structures.
  • Broad understanding of insurance programs and coverages commonly used in the energy industry and other large, complex multinational organizations.
  • Experience or specialized knowledge in one or more of the following areas: directors and officers (D&O), energy, marine, aviation, construction, or specialty insurance programs.
  • Experience with surety, self-insured claims, or captive insurance programs is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with risks and insurance considerations associated with emerging energy businesses, including hydrogen, CCUS, SAF, biofuels, and related technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Self-starter with sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with attention to detail.
  • Ability to build effective relationships across functions and organizational levels, work collaboratively with stakeholders, influence without authority, and deliver on commitments.
  • Comfortable utilizing a variety of technologies and applications, including Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to evaluate complex situations, recognize ambiguity, ask thoughtful questions, and develop data-driven recommendations and conclusions.
  • Experience leveraging digital tools, data analytics, automation, and AI-enabled technologies to improve efficiency, enhance analysis, support decision making, and streamline business processes.
