The Role

OpenTrain AI is hiring a Medical Coding AI Evaluation Lead to review AI-generated coding assignments and support advanced healthcare AI workflows. You will evaluate ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnoses, CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, and DRG assignments while identifying coding errors, compliance risks, and inaccuracies in AI output.

You will also conduct coding quality audits, monitor performance metrics, provide structured feedback to coders and AI systems, manage coding queues, reinforce Official Coding Guidelines and payer requirements, and support revenue integrity work across healthcare settings.

What You'll Do

This lead-level role combines medical coding expertise, quality assurance, workflow oversight, and AI output evaluation. Your reviews will support both human coding workflows and the improvement of AI-generated coding results.

  • Review professional fee and inpatient facility coding work for accuracy, compliance, and productivity.
  • Evaluate AI-generated coding assignments and identify coding errors, compliance risks, and output inaccuracies.
  • Conduct coding quality audits and provide targeted feedback to coders and AI systems.
  • Monitor coder productivity, accuracy rates, unbilled accounts, denial rates, and turnaround time compliance.
  • Support coding education, compliance training, workflow management, and revenue integrity collaboration.
  • Help manage coding queues and reinforce Official Coding Guidelines and payer requirements.

Required Experience and Skills

This opportunity is designed for an expert medical coding professional with substantial experience reviewing work, identifying compliance issues, and improving coding quality. Strong written and verbal English communication is essential for delivering clear feedback and supporting compliance work.

  • 5+ years of medical coding experience.
  • Deep knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS, Official Coding Guidelines, and DRG assignment.
  • Experience with professional fee coding, facility inpatient coding, or both.
  • Experience overseeing professional fee or inpatient facility coding workflows.
  • Hands-on experience evaluating AI-generated coding outputs or conducting coding audits.
  • Experience conducting coding quality audits and supporting coding quality improvement.
  • Familiarity with coding KPIs, revenue integrity issues, productivity, accuracy, denials, and turnaround time.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify coding errors, compliance risks, and AI output inaccuracies.
