Senior Software Engineer - AI

This a Full Remote job, the offer is available from: Europe

This role is part of our Usersnap team, one of our growing brands at saas.group.

Profile Overview

Usersnap is building AI-driven capabilities into the core of the product, from automated setup to intelligent surveys, contextual analysis, and reporting that generates itself based on connectors. We're looking for a hands-on Senior AI engineer who designs and ships AI-powered features end-to-end, working closely with fellow engineers to bring these capabilities to production quality.

This is an IC role with real technical ownership. You'll be trusted to make architecture decisions within your area, not just execute someone else's spec, and to spot problems and propose solutions before anyone has to ask. AI capability is becoming core to Usersnap's product and go-to-market, and you'll be one of two engineers making sure it actually ships reliably and at production quality.

Your immediate impact in the first 3-6 months will be:

  • You'll have shipped at least one AI-powered feature to production, end-to-end, from prototype through launch
  • You'll have established technical patterns for AI feature development that the rest of the team can reuse
  • You'll have built a strong working rhythm with the rest of the Engineering Team and Product
  • You'll be recognized as a reliable owner of ambiguous, technically complex work

Your responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship AI-powered features across the product, from prototyping through production quality
  • Work hands-on with LLMs, embeddings, and related AI tooling to solve real product problems, not just experiment with them
  • Own technical decisions for your features: architecture, model selection and integration approach, and the tradeoffs between quality, cost, and latency
  • Build across the stack as needed. This is a fullstack AI dev role, not siloed to backend or frontend, and every feature you ship should be tested, monitored, and maintainable
  • Help establish good practices for AI feature development as our AI surface area grows, and flag technical risks early, especially around AI reliability, cost, and edge-case behavior
  • Partner closely with the Senior Engineering Manager on technical planning and sequencing, with Product on requirements (pushing back with technical reality when needed), and with the rest of the engineering team on shared architecture and standards

What You bring to the table

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, you've shipped AI features to production and owned the lifecycle from problem framing to post-launch iteration, not just prototypes or AI-assisted coding
  • Strong fullstack fundamentals; comfortable across frontend, backend, and infrastructure as needed
  • Practical experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, or similar techniques in live systems, with good judgment about when AI is the right tool and when it isn't
  • Evaluation mindset, you define success metrics, design experiments, run offline and online evaluations, and make decisions from the results
  • Data competence, solid SQL, basic schema design, the ability to build simple pipelines, and a willingness to get your hands dirty with data through analysis and exploration
  • Production readiness, Docker fluency, CI/CD awareness, logging and monitoring basics, and good habits for versioning prompts, models, and datasets
  • LLM platform breadth, experience integrating multiple LLM providers, working with vector databases, and using LangChain (or similar); comfortable fine-tuning when it truly makes sense
  • A track record of proactive problem framing, identifying problems and proposing solutions on your own, rather than waiting to be told exactly what to build
  • Compliance or security experience, or a strong interest in it, is a genuine plus as we move upmarket
  • Comfortable in a lean team where you own outcomes, not just tickets

What's in it for You

  • Ultimate flexibility: We're 100% remote. You can work from wherever you like, whenever you like.
  • Freedom and autonomy: We're a high-trust team, and you'll be given lots of flexibility to solve problems in your own way — with plenty of help from the team when you need it.
  • Minimum bureaucracy: We don't like to get bogged down with meetings and red tape. We like to be efficient and keep momentum steady & sustainable.
  • Small & friendly team: We help each other out, have fun, and joke around.
  • Our network: We are a community of entrepreneurial SaaS professionals that regularly exchange ideas, knowledge, learning and expertise with each other internally.
  • Flexible time off: We want you to recharge your batteries when needed.

Usersnap is part of saas.group and we have a shared goal of succeeding together.

Common Interview Questions And Answers

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

4. WHAT DO YOU NEED IN YOUR PHYSICAL WORKSPACE TO SUCCEED IN YOUR WORK?

With this question, companies are looking to see what equipment they may need to provide you with and to verify how aware you are of what remote working could mean for you physically and logistically...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

The day I watched Marie Forleo's film separating the important from the urgent, my life changed. Not all remote jobs start fast, but most of them are...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
