Provides excellent service to customers who place a bet in Race wagering as well as the Sports Book operations. Ensure that all customers understand the various types of wagers, display patience with novice customers, and engage in friendly conversations with all customers. Processes all cash transactions quickly and accurately.

  • Greets customers; inputs betting information into computer; prints tickets; accepts money and gives tickets and change to customers.
  • Accurately maintains bank.
  • Verifies winning tickets.
  • Handles and solves any concerns and questions by customers.
  • Explains wagering information when needed.
  • Maintains and updates Betting Boards or Televisions for customers to view.
  • Understands pari-mutuel wagering including reading tickets sold, tote keyboard and basic racing terminology.
  • Provide customers with a list of scratches for tracks or results for races.
  • Cash/sell vouchers.
  • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
  • Cash/Cancel tickets as necessary.
  • Performs the duties as assigned of a Mutuel Teller and Sportsbook Writer.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Proficient in English verbal and written
  • High school diploma or GED. At least 6 months previous cash handling experience preferred.
  • Must have an outgoing, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude. Must be comfortable initiating conversations and a fun environment for guests.
  • Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays if applicable.
  • Sports enthusiasts with an interest in horse racing and sports activities.
  • Mathematically inclined and the ability to pass a math test.
  • Demonstrated ability of good handwriting skills.
  • Must present a well-groomed appearance.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must have manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, reach, and kneel repetitively.
  • Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions when handling guest and employee conflicts.
  • Specific vision abilities such as close, distance, color, depth and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ascend and descend stairs and maintain equilibrium for an extended period.
  • Must be able to work from a standing position and/or walking motion for extended period. Must be able to maneuver through all areas of the property and from floor-to-floor wither by stairway or escalator.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest commissions, proportions, percentages, are, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Promote a positive influence in the company and company sponsored events. Maintain a professional work environment with management and staff.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a license from the Indiana Gaming Commission and Indiana Horse Racing Commission.
