Position Overview

Health Information Partners (HIP) is seeking an experienced VA / Department of Defense (DoD) Healthcare Contracting Consultant to lead our expansion into federal medical coding, Health Information Management (HIM), auditing, CDI, and related healthcare service contracts.

We are specifically looking for someone who has personally worked on VA and/or DoD healthcare contracts from the vendor/contractor side and understands how to take an opportunity from identification and proposal through award, staffing, onboarding, implementation, and operational launch.

This is a hands-on consulting role. We need a subject matter expert who can help HIP identify the right opportunities, pursue competitive contracts, and quarterback the process through successful implementation.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify and evaluate VA, DoD, and Military Health System healthcare contracting opportunities.
  • Review RFQs, RFPs, Statements of Work, and Performance Work Statements and advise on bid/no-bid decisions.
  • Guide capture strategy, proposal development, pricing, staffing, and productivity models.
  • Evaluate prime, subcontracting, teaming, and set-aside opportunities.
  • Advise HIP on federal registrations, requirements, credentialing, security, system access, and contractor onboarding.
  • If awarded, lead or advise implementation, including staffing, workflows, reporting, quality requirements, KPIs, and go-live.
  • Build a repeatable framework HIP can use to pursue future VA and DoD healthcare contracts.

Required Experience

Direct vendor/contractor experience supporting VA and/or DoD healthcare contracts is required.

Ideal candidates will have experience with:

  • Federal healthcare capture, proposals, pricing, implementation, or contract management.
  • Launching or managing healthcare contracts after award.
  • Medical coding, HIM, coding audit, CDI, revenue cycle, or related healthcare services.
  • Government contract staffing and productivity models.
  • Federal contractor onboarding, credentialing, security, and system-access requirements.
  • Teaming, subcontracting, and federal set-aside opportunities.

Previous experience as a Federal Healthcare Program Manager, VA/DoD Contract Program Manager, Contract Operations Director, Capture Manager, Proposal Manager, or Federal Healthcare Consultant is highly desirable.

Who We’re Looking For

This is not a general healthcare operations or general government contracting position.

We’re looking for someone who can say:

“I have personally helped a vendor pursue, win, launch, or manage VA and/or DoD healthcare contracts, and I know what it takes to make them operationally successful.”

If that’s you, we’d like to hear from you.

Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule

Application Question(s):

  • What VA and/or DoD healthcare contracts have you supported?
  • What has been your role in the following: capture, proposal, pricing, award, implementation, and/or operations.
  • Do you have any experience in medical coding, HIM, auditing, CDI, or revenue cycle contracting? If yes, please explain.
  • Please explain the approximate size and scope of the most relevant federal healthcare contract you've helped pursue or manage.
