Job Title: Warehouse Operator 1, Picker

Department: Warehouse, 1st shift

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Warehouse Manager

General Statement of Job

Performs wide range of duties concerning packing under the general direction of the Warehouse Manager, coupled with following/achieving production, quality and performance standards, while exceeding our customer’s expectations with quality service in a timely manner.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

  • Picks and preserves product for customer order requirements
  • Follows established inventory record keeping procedures to maintain a near 100% degree of inventory accuracy. Verbally informs the Warehouse Manager immediately of all inventory errors
  • Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of equipment and materials such as forklifts, pallet jack, etc. adhering to all safety rules, procedures and safe practices
  • Responsible for the reporting of any unsafe practices and conditions to a member of management
  • Performs material handling and utility functions
  • Continuously strives for excellent customer service and is involved in the customer complaint corrective action when needed
  • Maintains inventory lot and FIFO control
  • Utilizes Warehouse Management System to capabilities to achieve near 100% inventory/order accuracy
  • Works closely with management and fellow employees to keep an “open line” of communications to achieve “team concept” goals of our organization
  • Responsible for maintaining and following TS 16949 & ISO 9001 quality standards and standard operating procedures
  • Maintains and protects all company assets under their control while fostering loss prevention awareness

Additional Job Functions

  • Able and willing to work all shifts and hours as assigned, with some overtime required
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a clean, safe and orderly condition
  • Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations
  • Performs other related duties as required or as directed
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED, plus minimum 2 years of warehouse, shipping/receiving experience
  • Possess strong problem solving skills, analytical ability and good judgment in dealing with completing priorities, limited resources and time pressure
  • Ability to work independently with some direction. Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments
  • Superior organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Capable of following written instructions and documented procedures
  • Able to operate a fork lift
  • Team player who works productively with wide range of people
  • Effective listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift 10-50lbs on a regular basis
  • Must have basic reading, writing, language and math skills

(ADA) Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of maintenance equipment and tools. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to use body members to work, move, or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to twenty pounds frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for physically active work. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to fifty pounds.

Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural, or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things.

Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information related to administrative duties.

Language Ability: Requires the ability to speak with and before others with poise, voice control, and confidence using correct English and well-modulated voice.

Intelligence: Requires the ability to learn and understand relatively basic principles and techniques related to administrative and clerical duties.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, and follow verbal and written instruction.

Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; add, subtract, multiply and divide figures; determine percentages; determine time weight.

Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and/or hear: talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. (Hearing – perceiving nature of sounds by ear)
