Description

Join Amazon's Pathways Operations internship and tackle real-world operational challenges at one of our dynamic facilities. Over 12 weeks, you'll be embedded within a state-of-the-art Fulfillment Center, Sort Center, Delivery Station, or Amazon Air site, leading impactful projects that drive immediate improvements while developing hands-on problem-solving skills alongside senior leadership. Your days will involve collaborating with operations teams to identify process improvements, analyze workflows, and implement solutions that enhance efficiency. You'll participate in cross-functional meetings, gather data to support your projects, and present findings to leadership. Beyond your core project work, you'll have opportunities to shadow different departments, learn how various teams interconnect, and understand how your contributions fit into Amazon's broader operations network.

  • This program is open to external candidates only; current Amazon employees are not eligible to apply. The role appears on Amazon's internal portal solely for employee referral purposes.
  • Candidates should be currently enrolled in an MBA or Master's program, and be able to commit to a 12-week summer 2027 internship.
  • This role is for Pathways internship positions at Amazon operations facilities across the United States. Successful candidates will work with their recruiter to be matched to a site prior to receiving an offer.
  • Candidates who apply to multiple Amazon MBA internship roles will only be selected to interview for one.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

Pathways is Amazon's three-year Operations Leadership Development Program, designed to cultivate the next generation of senior operations leadership. Full-time participants gain high visibility with senior executives while tackling challenging assignments across diverse sites, technologies, and geographies — collaborating with cross-functional teams, taking on progressively greater responsibilities, and building a network of peers who become their professional community throughout their career at Amazon.

THE INTERNSHIP:

As a Pathways intern, you'll spend 12 weeks embedded in one of Amazon's fulfillment, sortation, or delivery centers. You'll split your time between hands-on operations exposure — shadowing managers, leading gemba walks, and participating in business reviews — and owning a strategic project that you'll develop into a white paper and present to senior site leadership. This is your opportunity to experience Amazon's operations firsthand and demonstrate your leadership potential. Successful interns may be considered for a return offer into the full-time Pathways program.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead data-driven projects that optimize supply chain processes and enhance the customer and associate experience
  • Analyze complex business challenges and develop scalable, innovative solutions
  • Engage in cross-functional teamwork to drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to operational efficiency and strategic decision-making processes

A day in the life

Your day will be fast-paced and hands-on, immersed in a live operations environment. You'll engage in site-specific projects, analyze operational challenges, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that directly enhance customer experiences. You'll work alongside operations leaders and frontline associates, gaining valuable experience in managing a dynamic workforce.

About the team

You'll join a site operations team that drives results 24/7 to deliver for our customers. Our site teams include Area Managers, Operations Managers, Safety and HR, and front-line associates, all working together to achieve operational excellence. Common Interview Questions And Answers

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
