Remote (North America) · Independent Contractor · Commission + Per-Demo Fee · Uncapped

About Femly

Femly provides sustainable menstrual care products and restroom solutions to organizations across North America. Our customers are universities, employers, property managers, healthcare systems, and public institutions that want to make period care as accessible as any other restroom essential.

The commercial logic is simple: these organizations already have restroom supply budgets. We give them a better category to spend it on, and a visible way to show their students, tenants, patients, and employees that the space was designed with them in mind.

We are at the stage where the product works, the market is real, and the constraint is coverage. There are more institutions worth talking to than there are people talking to them. That is the problem this role exists to solve.

Why this role is different

You own the full cycle. Most business development roles hand you a slice. In those roles you either book meetings for someone else or take handoffs from someone else. Here at Femly, the account is yours from the first piece of research to the signed contract. You decide who to go

after, how to approach them, and how to close them.

You get paid before the close, not just at it. Alongside tiered commission on every deal, we pay a flat fee for every qualified demo you conduct. Building a pipeline generates income while you build it. That structure exists because we would rather reward the work that produces revenue than ask you to work for free until a procurement cycle finishes.

There is no queue and no territory politics. No one is assigning you leads or protecting accounts from you. If you can find it, research it, and open it, it's yours.

We are transparent about the trade. This is commission-only. There is no base salary. We are not going to bury that in the fine print or reframe it as "entrepreneurial equity." In exchange, your earnings are uncapped, your schedule is yours, and no one is going to ask you to justify how you spent a Tuesday afternoon.

This role is probably not the right fit if:

You want a manager checking in on your activity and setting your daily priorities

You need income certainty in the next 60 days and cannot tolerate a variable ramp

You prefer inherited pipeline over self-sourced pipeline

Rejection lands hard and stays with you

You would rather be told what the plan is than write it yourself

None of that is a character flaw. It's a fit question, and it's better answered now than in month three.

What you'll do

Find the opportunity

Identify and research institutions that fit our profile across higher education, corporate real estate, healthcare, property management, and the public sector

Build and prioritize your own target account list

Qualify leads before you spend time on them

Open the conversation

Run cold email outreach that sounds like a person wrote it

Prospect and engage decision-makers on LinkedIn

Book meetings with facilities directors, procurement leads, HR and DEI leadership, student affairs teams, and property managers

Move the deal

Conduct discovery calls that surface the real buying motivation, not just the stated one

Deliver product demos tailored to the institution's context

Navigate multi-stakeholder decisions, budget cycles, and procurement processes

Negotiate terms and close partnerships

Manage the system

Keep opportunities accurate and current in HubSpot

Run disciplined follow-up from first touch through signature

Submit a monthly activity report and attend one weekly team meeting

Outside of those two commitments, how you structure your week is your call.

What you'll bring

Experience helps. Behavior decides.

What actually predicts success here:

You start things without being asked, and you finish them without being reminded

You are organized enough to run 20+ live conversations without losing track of any of them

You are comfortable hearing no, and comfortable asking again anyway

You write clearly and persuasively, and you are equally credible on a call

You are resourceful. When the obvious path is blocked, you find a different one

You are curious about the institutions you're selling into and coachable about how you sell

You take ownership of outcomes rather than explanations

Helpful, but not required:

Prior sales, business development, or account management experience

CRM experience, particularly HubSpot

Cold email and LinkedIn prospecting experience

Experience running demos or discovery calls

Familiarity with institutional or B2B procurement

You do not need startup experience. You need the instincts that startup experience usually produces: bias toward action, tolerance for ambiguity, and the ability to create momentum from nothing.

Compensation

This is an independent contractor position. Compensation is entirely performance-based:

Tiered commission on closed deals, scaled by deal value. Larger partnerships pay at higher rates.

Flat fee per qualified demo conducted, so pipeline-building activity is compensated directly.

Uncapped earnings. There is no ceiling, no accelerator threshold you have to hit before the good rate starts, and no cap on account size.

Monthly payouts, calculated on payments received from customers.

The honest details: there is no base salary. Commission is paid on collected revenue, which means payout timing follows the customer's payment terms. As an independent contractor, you are responsible for your own taxes and you retain full flexibility over your schedule and other commitments.

Specific commission tiers and per-demo fees are shared in the first conversation. We do not make candidates guess.

What we provide

You are autonomous, not unsupported. From day one you get:

Structured onboarding and product training

A documented sales playbook covering positioning, objection handling, and the institutional buying cycle

Industry-specific demo decks built for each vertical we sell into

HubSpot CRM access

Marketing collateral and case material

Tested email templates and outreach sequences

Ongoing coaching from leadership, available when you want it

Lead qualification support when capacity allows

What we do not provide is daily management. No one will build your target list, set your call schedule, or chase you for activity between the weekly meeting and the monthly report. The tools and the training are there. The initiative is yours.

What success looks like in your first 90 days

Days 1–30 — Learn the buyer. Complete onboarding and product training. Build your first target account list. Start structured outreach. Book and run your first demos.

Days 31–60 — Build the engine. Reach a consistent rhythm of roughly 3–5 demos per week, with the majority of those opportunities self-sourced. Move your first opportunities into active negotiation. Your pipeline should be full enough that no single deal determines your quarter.

Days 61–90 — Convert. Close your first partnerships. A strong first quarter looks like $15,000–25,000 in closed revenue, with a pipeline behind it that makes the second quarter larger than the first.

These are the numbers that reflect a good ramp, not a pass/fail line. What we watch most closely in the first 90 days is the trajectory: are you sourcing your own opportunities, is your demo volume consistent, and are your conversations getting sharper.

Why someone would love this role

If you recently finished university or an MBA: you will learn full-cycle enterprise-adjacent selling in months rather than years, and you will have your own closed revenue numbers to point at. That is a materially stronger asset than a year of SDR call quotas.

If you are an experienced business development professional: you can run this alongside existing commitments. Uncapped commission on a real product, no headcount politics, no pipeline reviews.

If you want your income tied to your output: it is, completely. No compression, no cap, no waiting for a comp cycle to reflect what you actually produced.

If autonomy is what you're actually optimizing for: one meeting a week, one report a month. The rest of your calendar belongs to you.

And the work itself is worth doing. Every partnership you close puts period care within reach for people who currently have to plan around its absence. That is a straightforward thing to feel good about, and it makes cold outreach considerably easier to sustain.

How to apply

Send your resume and (optional) LinkedIn profile to jobs@femly.com, along with a short note answering one question:

Name one organization in North America you would target first, and tell us in a few sentences how you would open the conversation.

You don't need to be right. We are not testing your knowledge of our market. We want to see how you think when nobody has given you a script yet, because that is the job.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We aim to respond to every candidate who completes the question above. Femly is committed to building a team that reflects the communities we serve. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds.

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?
